“Buddha’s Long Journey”

I did a large charcoal/pastel drawing years ago of Buddha walking through a forest of plants and thought the concept would lend itself well to one of my sculpture scenes. So, after two days work I sculpted Buddha and spent hours more sculpting a look for him (clothes & accessories), but I didn’t REALLY have a clear concept of where I was going with him.

This piece is undoubtedly one of the most complex and frustrating pieces I’ve done so far. It took almost a month of off & on work, a lot of scenery and it really tried my patience, but I think the journey I took in doing it ended with a really interesting piece with a story of it’s own to tell.

I should probably keep this one in my personal collection, but who knows where it’s journey will end!?!?
